MyReviewHood uses a five-point scale for film and show reviews. Ratings reflect the reviewing writer's independent editorial assessment only — they are never aggregated audience scores, and they are never sourced from any third-party ratings database.

5/5Exceptional — among the strongest films/shows of its kind; a clear recommendation.

4/5Recommended — a strong film/show with minor shortcomings.

3/5Mixed / Decent — has real strengths, but notable flaws hold it back.

2/5Disappointing — falls short in most areas that matter.

1/5Poor — does not work on most levels.

Half-Point Ratings

We occasionally use half-point ratings (for example, 3.5/5) where a whole-number rating would over- or understate a film's quality.

What Our Ratings Are Not

Our ratings are not a substitute for, or a reflection of, any other publication's or platform's rating, and they are not derived from user reviews or aggregated scores of any kind.
